Salvaged Stories
The purpose of this project was to build upon professional design methods and strategies of problem solving, through research, conceptual ideation, and design development. Practicing the usage of formal elements and basic principles of design for exploration of type, imagery, layout and composition, format and media to create innovative, well executed final visual communication solutions.
This was explored through the creation of a program for a museum exhibition. Responsible in designing everything from logotypes, environmental graphics, narrative literature, and products.
As immigrants displace from their home countries in search for new opportunities, prosperity, and safety, they are met with countless challenges throughout their journey. However, the challenges do not just stop once the destination has been reached. As immigrants struggle to adapt into a new foreign environment they are welcomed by a rather
unsympathetic society. Not only are immigrants marginalized, but their narratives get twisted around and taken away from them. Their identities get lost, and their voices are silenced. This exhibition walks you through the next journey an immigrant must take; the one in which they reclaim their stories.
